The Arts Society Saltaire

HERITAGE VOLUNTEERS

Nationally, Arts Society Heritage Volunteers are teams of committed non-specialist volunteers who work under the guidance of curators and other professionals to help conserve our heritage.

Across the societies, Heritage Volunteers are undertaking projects for:

· museums

· National Trust properties

· historic houses

· libraries and gardens

So, if heritage is your passion and you want to make a difference, this might be the role for you. Working closely with the curators and volunteering managers of museums, archives, gardens and historic houses, you will get to spend time behind the scenes in these wonderful places as part of the team.

In the past The Arts Society Saltaire have helped to conserve and clean books from the Subscription Library in Leeds, catalogued items at Bolling Hall, Bradford and helped store clothing items for Bradford Museums.

At present a small team is cataloguing and storing documents that have been donated and will retain the history of Burley in Wharfedale Village. So far hundreds, even thousands of papers, books and photographs have been numbered, filed and put onto the Archive website.

We work between 14.00 and 15.30 on a Tuesday afternoon in the Archive room in Burley in Wharfedale’s Library.
