OUR 'GOTTA DANCE' LECTURE HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED WITH A WONDERFUL TALK ABOUT CHATSWORTH BY SIMON SELIGMAN. WE HOPE TO SEE COLIN SHINDLER AT SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE

Since the 1950s, Chatsworth and its collections have undergone a renaissance under the leadership of the 11th and 12th Dukes and Duchesses of Devonshire and continues with Lord and Lady Burlington, and the Chatsworth House Trust. This lecture paints a portrait of Devonshire’s treasure house in the modern age, illustrating the extensive C21st decorative and furnishing renovations in the house and the restoration of historic interiors, stone work and works of art. The lecture also includes work by modern and contemporary artists in the collection at Chatsworth including Lucian Freud, Elisabeth Frink, David Hockney and David Nash, to Richard Long, Allen Jones, Michael Craig-Martin and Edmund de Waal.

ARTFULLY SAID

Welcome to Episode 2 of Artfully Said, an Arts Society podcast: “’70s Music and Fashion From Dancefloor to Runway.”

Arts Society accredited lecturers Steve King (music historian) and Scott Schiavone (fashion curator) unpack how sound and style collided to create one of the most inventive eras in modern culture. From disco’s sweltering dance floors and punk’s raw rebellion to glam rock’s theatrical excess, they trace how innovation, the political climate, and creativity reshaped what people listened to- and what they wore while doing it.

Stream Artfully Said now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
