Welcome to our website!  We hope that you’ll find something that’s of interest to you. Keep reading and join us on a journey of discovery – there’s a big world of art out there to explore.

To some of us the Arts are the bed-rock of society, to others they’re just the icing on the cake.  But there’s no getting away from the fact that human expression has been part of our history since man (or was it a woman?) picked up a shard of flint and made their first mark.

The experience of arts and culture conects with healh and well being, happiness, identity and a sense of place.

We create and consume art in so many different ways and it forms part of our everyday life; sometimes without us even realising it.

For some of us art appreciation has been a life-long interest, for others it’s a newly-found and rewarding pastime.  Our aim is to share it with you all.

Health warning!!!  You can become addicted.

Explore our website and see the range of activities we offer.  If there’s something there that takes your fancy or if you’ve got any questions get in touch with us via the ‘Contact Us’ tab and we’ll aim to respond to you within 24 hours.

The Arts Society (www.theartssociety.org.uk) is a leading arts education charity based in London with a global network of local Societies. Their aim is to bring people together through a shared curiosity for the arts - where like-minded people come together to enjoy, engage and learn about the arts in all their forms.  Each Society offers a series of illustrated talks on a range of arts-related topics.  The Speakers are experts in their own fields and are chosen from a Directory drawn up by professional researchers from the Arts Society. You may well have seen some of the speakers before on television in programmes such as ‘The Antiques Roadshow’ and in a range of art history documentaries.

The Arts Society Saltaire is one of its 350 affiliated local societies based in the UK, mainland Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

Our society began in 1993 and we have a growing membership of nearly 200. We have room for more.  We’re a friendly bunch - come along and see for yourself.

2025 offers some great opportunities to get closer to the arts and, with a full programme of interesting Talks and Activities, we are ready to enjoy ourselves!
